Mission

Mission and objectives of the University of Art and Design
The main goal of UAD is to train specialists, in the field of fine and decorative arts and design, who would have a significant impact in the cultural, commercial and industrial field of contemporary society, as well as to train art teachers for pre-university and university level. UAD wishes to transform its graduates into initiators of qualitative transformation of the human, spiritual and material environment. The University of Art and Design offers its students a high level of visual education through teaching methods that valuate the native cultural and artistic tradition, but also assimilate forms of contemporary artistic language.

Figurative and Figure in the Young Romanian Art

The project “Figurative and Figure in the Young Romanian Art” has been realised with the financial support of the Romanian Cultural Fund, being one among 92 projects that received the financial support of the above mentioned institution during the 1st session of cultural projects' contest organized by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund at the end of 2005.
During the organization and developing of the project, the University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca had also the professional support of its partners Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest, The Bruckental National Museum Sibiu and The Association "Atelier Deschis" from Miercurea Ciuc.
The curatorial project (coordinated by junior lecturer Bogdan Iacob) consisted of the works belonging to 16 Romanian artists of the young generation, from Bucharest and Cluj, whose works gave the substance of the two sections/exhibitions „Retinal / seduction” (artists – Marius Bercea, Florin Ciulache, Mirela Craciun, Oana Farcas, Kudor Duka Istvan, Serban Savu, Roman Tolici, Iuliana Valsan) and „The Beauty and the Beast” (artists - Suzana Dan, David Istvan, Dumitru Gorzo, Marius Jucan, Alexandru Radvan, Mircea Suciu, Sorin Tara, Simona Vilau).
