Mission

The fine arts specialization - painting prepares specialists in easel painting and also future teachers/professors in schools or universities. Through this the department contributes to the promotion of art and culture using the specific means and methods of the field. The painting department has a historic mission – the creation of the future painters from Transylvania and it is, in the same time, a spiritual centre with a high level of attraction for all the youg people in Romania.
The principles that lie at the bottom of these high standards of artistic education are: the benefic conjunction of the teachers’ work with the artistic creation, the knowledge of the contemporary painting’s realities and their simultaneous transmission to the students, the debate and the presentation of new concepts, the permanent existence in the contemporary life and the connection with the values and ideas of the contemporary painting.

The painting department consists of a 500 m² surface divided in:
- 7 studios, distributed to each year and group of studies
- 1 cromatology and painting techniques laboratory
- 1 computer laboratory
- 1 carpentry workshop
