Mission

The fine arts specialization – graphic art offers a high artistic education for creators and artists. It prepares specialists in the field of the graphic art for books, graphic design and poster; it also trains future teachers/professors. It contributes to the promotion of arts and culture using the specific means and methods of the field.
The fine arts specialization – graphic art has a duration of 3 years (the license degree) and it is divided in 2 phazes: 1 of basic studies and the 2nd consisting of 2 years of specializations, followed by other 2 years of master degree. Each student follows a path of knowledge of all the directios, chosing at the end the phase which is interesting for him/her. Besides the class topics which are programed based on a very well structured project, the students are developing their own research. There is a informative and instructive process.

Specific competencies

As a consequences of the permanent reviewing and restructuring of the curricula, within the fine arts specialization – graphic art the following professional competencies can be obtained:
a) The proper representation of the objective reality within the specific system of drawing.
b) The knowledge of the basic techniques of the expression in colour, in order to aply them in the easel graphic, advertising graphic and book graphic.
c) The theoretical and practical study of the main techniques in graphics and their recording in intaglio, wood-cut, linocut, lithography and in serigraphy.
d) The mastering of the basic principles in order to determine a system of orientation which can be ultimetaly freely and creatively applied.
e) The assimilation of the analyzing, sintesyzing capacity, the stimulation of the imagination and of the intelectual capacity of abstractization and conceptualization, the assimilation of valorice and stylistic criteria in the creation and evaluation of the work of art.
f) The theoretical and practical knowledge of the appearance and development of writing, of the construction of diverse characters of lettrs, as well as their use in the fields of advertising and book graphics.
g) The knowledge of the means and methods of digital image processing, as well as the formation of skills in using the different formats and support in their presentation.
h) The theoretical and practical knowledge of the principles and rules of structuring the images and texts within the graphic-design projects.
i) The formation of a creative thinking through the integration of the expresive valence of the subjectivity specific to the easel graphic in the graphic image.
j) The knowledge of the photo art and techniques, as well the creative capitalization of the photography in the graphic works.
k) Within the system which is specific to drawing there is a search of the interpretation of the objective reality through personal vision.

Engraving studios (down in the courtyard):
Studio 1 (8,40 m²) and 2 (15,90 m²) - 1 intaglio press; 1 wood-cut press.
Litography studio (down in the courtyard):
Studio 2 (13,50 m) and studio 2 (11,25 m²) – litography press; litography stones; a table for polishinging the lito stones
Engraving studios (in the building):
Studio 3 (46,23 m²) and studio 2 (23,11 m²) - 2 wood-cut presses
Serigraphy studio (30,22 m² + 5,76 m²)
