The support materials necessary for the admission exam/contest’s development (paper, cardboard, clay, photo materials and cameras) will be delivered by the University of Art and Design’s administration.
The rest of the materials such as pencils, coal, water colours, oil colours or coloured inks will be brought by the candidates. The list of the necessary materials for each specialization will be posted at least 7 days before de admission exam.
The candidates will be informed, by posted documents, 24 h before the starting of the exam, about the name of the contest, about the starting hour, about the duration and about the placement in the halls.

Types of examination

The admission contest consists of the following exams:
I. General mandatory drawing exam (practical)
This exam is eliminatory and will be evaluated by "admitted" or "repealed".
II. The selection exam
1. Practical exam, specific to each specialization (with a duration of 2 days)
- Fine arts - painting/mural painting: colour practical exam
- Conservation-restoration: colour practical exam
- Fine arts - graphic art: drawing practical exam
- Fine arts - illustration/animation: drawing practical exam
- Fine arts - sculpture: shaping practical exam
- Art education: colour practical exam
- Fine arts - photo-video-digital image processing - photography prectical exam
- Ceramic-glass-metal: colour practical exam
- Textile arts - textile design: colour practical exam
- Textile arts - fashion design: colour practical exam
- Design: drawing practical exam or making a project (at the board of examiners' choice)
2. Oral exam based on the candidate's portofolio, containing his works
Information about the portofolio
The portofolio has to contain a number of 20 – 25 works, various as techniques and topics: studies of drawing and colour after the human figure, de desen si culoare dupa figura umana, still natures, landscape, compositions, etc.
There can be also added to the portofolio works that underline the candidate's option for that particular specialization and enhance the candidate creative talent.
The candidate for the sculpture department can put in their portofolio photos of their works. Also, the candidates for the photo-video department can add to their portofolio photos or video creations (not longer that 8 minutes).
The calculation of the general average for the selection exam is made as follows:
- the average obtained for the practical exam represents 2/3 of the final average;
- the grade obtained for the oral exam represents 1/3 of the final average.
In case of equal final averages, the criteria for selecting the candidate is the average obtained for the practical exam.
In case of equal averages for the practical exam, the candidates will have to sustained the practical exam again in order to be selected.

Rules of the admission exam's development

a. After the candidates take their places in the halls, the sealed envelopes containing the subject are brought and the subject is presented to the candidates by a member of the board of examiners. The candidates which are not present in the hall he moment of the subject's presentation lose their right of sustaining that particular exam. The only items allowed in the exam halls, besides the support materials, are the candidates' ID's (or passports) and the contest ID. The lack of one of these identification cards leads to the excluding from the exam that particular day. PC's, telephones or other electrical devices are not allowed to be taken in the exam halls. the candidates' access in the exam halls is permitted only one hour before the exam begins. The candidates can leave the exam hall only after an hour from the moment the subject was introduced. Leaving the exam hall is final and it consist in handing the work to the board of examiners and signing for it. The candidates who do not respect the present regulation are expeled. The expeling decision is taken by the central board of examiners based on the observations made by the supervision board of examiners from the hall where the candidate was sustaining his exam.
The model or the objects chosen by the board of examiners as the subject of the exam are placed in the front of the candidates in similar ways for each workshop belonging to the same specialization.
b. At the beginning of each exam a member of the admission the board of examiners passes through each workshop asking if there are unexpected events that require the central board of examiners' attention;
c. All the special cases brought to the board of examiners' attention will be written in the contest's minute, also the measures that have been taken for each particular case;
d. The practical exams will be equally long for each candidate for a given specialty, according to the schedule; there cac't be 2 exams programed for the same candidate in the same day.
e. After the examination time passes each candidate will leave the workshop after giving in, under signiture, its work. Each workshop will be sealed by the members of the board of examiners till next day. The supervising professors will check the candidates in order not to leave having their work on.
f. At the end of the practical exams the candidates will group their works in a file and will give the file to the board of examiners. After mixing them the board of examiners decides the way they will number the files.
