The Autumn Academy
The concept of this event belongs to the painter Ioan Sbârciu, the rector of the University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca. The Autumn Academy “Europa Artium” consists of creating a meeting place for European contemporary art representatives. Thus, the city of Cluj-Napoca becomes an integrant part of the circuit of contemporary art centers, which leads implicitly to a superior valorisation of Romanian artistic creation.
The Autumn Academy “Europa Artium” has come to its fifth edition in 2006, becoming, over years, one of the most important artistic events of this kind in the Center and Eastern Europe. The prestige of this event is given and consolidated each edition by the participation of numerous guests, among whom many remarkable personalities of Romanian and international art and culture: Markus Lüpertz, Jean-Pierre Greff, Dan Hăulică, Rene Burri, Chris Wainwright, Hans-Peter Schwarz, John Butler, Robert Fleck, Dominique Auerbacher, Martin Koeppll, Hermann Nietzsch, Walter Smerling, a.o.
