Workshops
Each specialisation has its own laboratories, equipped with the necessary machines and set up according to their didactic goal. There are artistic studios for every study year of every program. Theoretical courses for all students are held at Matei Corvin House where are classrooms and laboratories.
1. The Painting, Mural Painting Program occupies a 500 square meter area divided into: 7 workshop-studios distributed per years of study and groups of students; 1 painting laboratory; 1 computer laboratory; 1 carpentry laboratory.
2. The Conservation and Restoration Program occupies a 90 square meters area divided into workshop-studios for each study year, a common room for the staff, store rooms and laboratories adequately equipped.
3. The Sculpture Program offers studios for drawing and modeling (apron. 5 square meters/student), laboratories for the non-ferrous metal foundry, metal processing and carving. Students can also use machines necessary for sculpture: the angular grinding machine, the electric saw, the welding machine, the drilling machine, the forge etc.
4. The Graphic Arts Program has 5 studios: a drawing studio, a photo studio, a metal engraving studio, an advertising graphics studio and a wood engraving studio. There are also a photo laboratory, a serigraphy laboratory, two laboratories for engraving and multiplication techniques and a room for theoretical subjects. All of them are endowed with the necessary equipment and are run by trained personnel.
5. The activity of the photo-video-digital image-processing program takes place in three laboratories:
· the photo laboratory is equipped with magnifying devices which can produce black-and-white as well as color photos, from prints between 24 x 36 mm to 9 x 12 cm; students can use Mamiya 645 medium cameras with numerous high performance objectives;
· the video laboratory is equipped with a S-VHS Panasonic video camera, a video effects generator, an analog editing table, a computer for digital editing, “magnetoscopes” TV-sets etc.;
· the computer laboratory processes images with four Power Macintosh computers and one TDZ 2000 Intergraph that allows the video capture of static and dynamic images.
6. The Education – Fine and Decorative Arts Program occupies an area of 397 square meters divided into five workshop-studios, one engraving laboratory, one photo laboratory, one common room for the staff. The workshops are equipped with engraving presses, computers, color printers, Xerox machines, projectors, head projectors, sewing machines and cameras.
7.The workspace and the technical facilities of the Textiles Program include:
· 7 multifunctional workshops with a total area of 300 square meters;
· 1 millinery/modeling (fashion design) studio;
· 1 dyeing/printmaking laboratory;
· 1 weaving/preparation laboratory;
· 1 computer laboratory.
8. The Ceramics-Glass-Metal Program occupies an area of approximately 500 square meters divided into studios: 6 studios for main artistic activities of each year of study; a 110 square meters room for kilns; a laboratory for decorating glass; a workshop for processing ceramic materials; a workshop for processing plastic materials, and a workshop for cold molding techniques.
9. The Design Program has a building in the very heart of the city where the whole activity of the students takes place. The work surface is divided into classrooms and laboratories: 6 studios for each year of study, a computer laboratory, a photo laboratory and a mechanic workshop for models.
10. The Department of Theoretical Subjects has classrooms adequate for teaching theoretical subjects and laboratories equipped for: Artistic Anatomy, Modern Languages, and History of Art and Systems of Space Representations. The library of the university is always happy to help students and staff as well.
